The Town of Appomattox announces the following temporary policy changes to assist our community during the declared local emergency concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.  These temporary policy changes will be in effect until June 1, 2020 and are being funded from the Town’s General Fund Reserves.

Please continue to follow the Virginia Health Department’s recommendation of washing your hands, practicing social distancing, covering your mouth and nose with a tissue if you cough or sneeze and stay home if you are sick.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to contact the Town Hall – 434-352-8268 if you have questions. 

GENERAL PUBLIC:

To limit the possibilities of spreading the coronavirus, the Town has closed until further notice the Visitor Center, Abbitt Park, the Kiddie Park, and the lobbies at Town Hall and our Facilities Department.  However, we will still be working to serve our citizens.

TOWN RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES:

UTILITY BILLS:

In the interest of public health and safety, the Town of Appomattox will be suspending all water/sewer service cutoffs for non-payment through June 1, 2020.  Penalty fees will also be suspended during this time.  As a friendly reminder, customers are urged to make every effort to keep their accounts current during this period.  The Town will also lower the Utility (water/sewer) bills by 25% for the April and May 2020 billing periods. 

Please use one of the following methods to make payments:

  • via U.S. Mail, at Town of Appomattox, P. O. Box 705, Appomattox, Virginia, 24522
  • via phone 434-352-8268.  MasterCard and Visa only* 
  • online access at townofappomattox.com for utility payments. MasterCard and Visa only*
  • by use of the secure “drop box” located at the Linden Street side of the parking lot of the Town Hall building.

*The credit card convenience fee of 4% is temporarily suspended.

MEALS TAX:

While payments for Meals Tax remains due on the 20th of each month, you may however contact the Town Treasurer for an extension through June 1, 2020. 

LODGING TAX:

While payments for Lodging Tax remains due on the 10th of each month, you may however contact the Town Treasurer for an extension through June 1, 2020. 

BUSINESS LICENSE TAX:

Deadline for payment of the Town of Appomattox Business License Tax is extended to June 1, 2020.
