The Town of Appomattox is accepting applications from interested persons willing to serve as a Town representative on the Board of Zoning Appeals.

Applications may be obtained from the Appomattox Municipal Building, 210 Linden Street, Appomattox, Virginia between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, by calling 434-352-8268 or by email [email protected]

Completed applications deadline is June 22, 2018.

Town of Appomattox is Currently Accepting Applications for the Following Position(s):

Public Works – Facilities Technician I – Full Time:  SALARY:  $25,743.00.  The Town of Appomattox (population 1,745) seeks an unskilled worker in the maintenance of buildings and grounds, water, wastewater infrastructure, street operations, snow removal and general maintenance work for the position of Facilities Technician I.

Minimum Education and Special Requirements: High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and valid Class B with tanker endorsement Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Public Works – Laborer – Part Time, Temporary, Seasonal:  Approximately 40 hours per week for six months.  The purpose of this position is to perform responsible, unskilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance of buildings and grounds, water distribution system, wastewater distribution system, street operations, snow removal, and general maintenance work.  Minimum Education and Experience:  High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and some experience in unskilled labor.  Commonwealth of Virginia Driver’s License required.

SPRING CLEAN UP Weeks of April 16 – 20, 2018 and April 23 – 27, 2018

 

The Town of Appomattox will be conducting “Spring Clean Up” the weeks of April 16 – 20, 2018 and

April 23 – 27, 2018.

 

Town residents are asked to place brush, grass clippings, limbs, etc. at the curb.  Brush and tree limbs should be no longer than six feet, and where feasible should be in bags.  It is not intended for commercial cuttings.  Residents are asked to have those items removed by the contractor performing the work.

 

The leaf machine will also be available for leaves that you rake to the curbside.  Leaf piles should be free of sticks or rocks.

 

Also, you may place unwanted household items such as appliances, furniture, etc. at the curbside during this time.  Please call the Public Works Office at 352-8393 to notify us of your items to be discarded.  Items will not be picked up unless your request has been received.  Thank you for your cooperation.
