FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 7, 2019
The Town of Appomattox is taking a step forward in updating its comprehensive plan, which serves as a blueprint for the town’s future. The Central Virginia Planning District Commission (CVPDC hereafter) is assisting the Town in the update process and the plans adoption is slated for June of 2020. There is much work to be done in the meantime!
The Town’s comprehensive plan—available through the Town’s website—includes strategies relating to land use planning and zoning, transportation, housing, utility planning, community visioning, the economy and demographics. It will ultimately be up to Town citizens and elected officials to voice concerns they’d like to address throughout the plans’ development. This first step of visioning will be held through a survey process.
CVPDC staff and the Town’s Planning Commission have designed a survey to gauge citizen opinions about the Town of Appomattox and to determine the future opportunities and challenges. The questionnaire will be available online and through the Town office. The survey will also be mailed out to Town citizens with their water bills.
As a citizen of the Town, please take a few minutes to answer the questions online or on hard copy and return to the Town office. We ask that only one person per household fill out the questionnaire, but please feel free to consult with all members of your household in forming your opinions.
The responses on the questionnaire will be tabulated by CVPDC staff. No member of the community will take part in this tabulation in order to assure anonymity. Only final results will be presented to the public at large, the town council, and the planning commission.
We hope that you will join the Town Council and Planning Commission in the project and provide information to help guide your community through its next 20 years. The survey window is open and citizens are asked to return the survey no later than 5pm on September 20, 2019.
Online survey can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TOAcompplanupdate
